The Best Times to Post on Social Media

There is an art and a science to posting on social media. If you don't post or share your content at the right time(s), then the chances of it getting noticed drop, or it gets missed completely. No one wants that, right? The "prime times" for posting vary greatly from network to network, so it really helps to know your social media inside and out to know when your content has the greatest chances of getting viewed, clicked and shared.

As a general rule, the more people don't want to be at work or school, the more likely they are to be on social media. That doesn't apply to all social media, though (like LinkedIn, for instance). I've pinned several infographics about this on my social media Pinterest board, and these times seem to be the general consensus.

So here are the best times to post your content on social media:

Facebook: Thursdays and Fridays from 1-3pm. When do people not want to be at work? Toward the end of the week and the end of the day. Makes sense to me.

Twitter: Lunch break time is great for click-through rate, so plan your best tweets for around 12pm. If you want to go later, 6pm is another great hour, because people might be looking for something to check on their commutes home from work.

Pinterest: The pinners come out at night, so I usually pin my content between 8-10pm. That's when I'm usually on Pinterest, anyway. And I do notice that my feed becomes more populated and active later at night, when people are bored at home (or procrastinating on homework...).

Google+: I'm going to be honest, I really don't use Google+ for anything more than just an extra place to share my blog posts. However, 9-11am is Google+ prime time. 9:30am is especially great for me, because people are generally at work by then.

LinkedIn: Any time during the business day, you're golden. Companies define "business day" differently, but 9am-5pm tends to be the standard. Since it's a network more geared to professionals, the prime time for posting on here matches up with their days.

There you have it: the best times for posting and sharing content on your social media! When do you post your best content? What's your favorite social media?
